Originally released in 2018 as a European-exclusive, the all-white deconstructed model now receives its first-ever worldwide release. Stewarded by Shannon Abloh and the Virgil Abloh Archive™, this reissue honours the designer’s original intent: stripped of colour, the AJ1 becomes prototypical — an ur-Jordan that shifts focus from the man to the sneaker’s form and structure.
The Air Jordan 1 was the shoe that inspired Abloh’s journey to become a designer. When Nike gave him the opportunity to reimagine it for The Ten in 2017, he arrived on the Beaverton campus not with a presentation, but with a question: where’s the airbag? He picked up an X-Acto knife, punctured the sole, and if there was an airbag, he was going to write the word “AIR” on it. The rest is sneaker history.
